My Favorite Colleen Hoover Novel
I got on the Colleen Hoover novels band wagon late. Normally I am ahead of the curve with bestsellers before they become widely popular and raved about. But since becoming a mom I have not been devouring books like I used to. So when I saw Colleen Hoover books prominently displayed in the bookstores and I constantly came across her name on social media I had to see if the books really were that good.
It Ends With Us/It Starts With Us
I picked up my first Colleen Hoover novel, It Starts With Us, only to realize it was volume two in a two-part series! So, I quickly ordered It Ends With Us and dove right in. I enjoyed it, but not as much as I had hoped. I started the second volume next and honestly could not even finish it. It just didn’t hold my attention.
Never Never
A year passed before I would pick up another Colleen Hoover novel. My husband remembered me reading her books and bought Never Never for me for Christmas. Again, the story drags on a bit too much for me, not really going anywhere very fast. Again, I was unable to finish the book. As a mom I just don’t have the capacity to read a book that doesn’t completely captivate me and that begs to be picked up again! But alas! This would not be the last time a Colleen Hoover book would grace my hands.
Verity
A colleague of mine mentioned her deep and unending love for the Colleen Hoover books. She raved about two of them that I had to read. One of the titles stood out, and for the life of me I cannot recall the second one. I will have to ask her when I am back out to work next week. Anyways, I decided to give Colleen Hoover another go. It seemed like the universe kept putting her back into my periphery. I wasn’t about to go buy another book, so I searched for the title on the digital library platform Libby. I entered the book title Verity, placed it on hold, because all 30 copies were in use, and I received a notification that it was ready to be borrowed a few days later.
I began to read…and finally I understood the Colleen Hoover (CoHo) craze…I could not put Verity down. I opened the app any chance I got to continue my binge reading. Verity was exactly everything I needed in that moment, romance, erotica, suspense…oh the suspense! I was hooked. Oh was it so satisfying to fall into a story so deeply, to be so invested in the outcome that no matter how busy my schedule got, picking up where I left off reading was the highlight of my day.
Today I am searching for my next binge worthy Colleen Hoover novel. Any recommendations, even ones not Hoover related, are greatly appreciated!
